A Sad End

Saturday morning Biscuit jumped off the bed and it woke me up (to jump off she likes to crawl over me instead of just going where it's open). I then had to go to the bathroom, and as I walked back to my room I saw some lights through the blinds. I peeked through and looked down on the street below. There, in the dark and rain, I saw two cop cars and my car smushed against a truck, outside the parking lines, with a red car pushed against it on the other side. Not having my contacts in I sort of just stared for a bit and wondered if it was true.

It was true. It was raining early in the morning and the person driving didn't have working windshield wipers. He slammed into my car, which caused my car to slam into the truck parked next to mine. I think the truck caused the most damage.

When the cops were saying that the car was probably totaled, I nearly broke down in tears right there on the street. I didn't, and was composed enough to call my insurance company. I surprisingly didn't cry, either, when I called my mom to tell her the news. I actually didn't cry at all, I think because I knew there was no way it was going to change anything. I could sit and lament that fact that my car could've been parked in a different place if I had not spent the night before watching Mad Men and had ran my errands instead and then wouldn't be in this mess. I'm one of those people, though, who thinks that everything happens for a reason.

Afton and I have been through a lot over the years, from a new timing belt to a flat tire to being stolen to running out of gas  to dying on the freeway off ramp and then towed to Kansas behind my U-Haul. She has nine lives, and sadly this was her last one. She was awesome and I will miss her.
