Half Birthday

I'm exactly six months into my Thirtieth Year today, and I don't have much to report. I got hit with a serious case of lack of motivation a couple weeks ago. This came about because I felt like the hard work I was doing--jogging, working out, eating better--wasn't making any difference (scale-wise). Also, I had boy blues. It all combined into a general sense of lethargy, and I gave into it. Hardcore.

Sorry Thirtieth Year. I'll try to be better.

I Got a Bike!!

My mom and dad both gave me money for my birthday, as I had talked about buying a bike for at least a year. Yesterday I finally found the one I wanted and bought it. It is peacock blue and awesome. I took it out for a spin a little bit ago and it was fun!! Although, I'm not quite comfortable yet riding on the streets, and I'm not anywhere near capable of riding up the hill to my house. Yet.

Training

I have decided that I am going to run the Pioneer Day Deseret News 10k on July 24th. I ran this two summers ago and it was pretty awesome. This time around, though, I'm attempting to train for real for it. I perused the internet and found an 8-week training schedule that I should be able to follow. It involves 3 running days, two cross train days, and two days of rest each week.As the weeks go on my mileage increases. Today was run number 2, and it went pretty well. I'm not running the whole 2 miles at this point, but I hope to be able to work up to at the training progresses.

This is part of my Thirtieth Year Goal to exercise more and get in shape!

A Walk Home

One of the goals of my Thirtieth Year is to drive my car less and walk and take transit more. I used to get around solely by public transit, walking and the kindness of my friends of family for those really hard-to-get-to places. But then I got a car, and it was just so much more convenient. Truth is, though, I don't really like driving. I hate having to pay attention and shift and worry about other drivers and spend money on gas; I dislike that it is wasted time when I can't be reading, sleeping, studying or simply daydreaming.

Tonight I had an important event downtown at Abravanel Hall (I will blog about this most awesome event tomorrow) and took the convenient number 3 bus as my mode of transit. I then walked two blocks in the lovely (if a bit windy) spring weather to arrive at my final destination. By the time the event was over, the 3 bus was no longer running. So I walked along South Temple, stopping at Harmon's to get a few groceries, and admired the lovely houses, enjoyed the beautiful weather and smelled the flowers blooming. It was perfect.

29 Years

Today is birthday!! Yay! I love birthdays. I know people get excited for their 30th birthdays as it's such a milestone. But I'm impatient. So I'm celebrating the start of my 30th year, so I can already be awesome and ready when I hit 30 next year.

To start the 30th Year I went for a run this morning.

I then cut up a bunch of fruit, made granola, went to a doctor appointment, pretended to do some homework, got a haircut, had lunch with my sister at B&D, went to Law class, had study group for Law final on Friday, finished up some printing for Workshop class and now I'm sitting home. It was a nice day.

I'm hoping to chronicle some goals for The 30th Year throughout the year.  Stay tuned.
